Who can use tethered software?
Tethered software can only be activated by someone with a CAE login.
When?
Install software now, and run it later. You can also legally copy the installation CD-ROMs onto your computer or your own CD-ROMs for future installation (because you will be using it with your CAE login).
Where?
- Option #1: Map a network drive (Works best with fast internet connection).
- Option #2: Check out CD-ROMs for installation from Wendt Library Service Desk. (After installation you don't need CD-ROMs to run the software).
What is and isn't tethered software?
- Also known as "client/server licensing"
- Most tethered software is also available from CAE computers.
- Some tethered software is ONLY available by mapping a drive - it is not available on CAE computers, and cannot be checked out at Wendt.
- Non-tethered software is ONLY available from CAE computers or CAE remote desktop, and cannot be accessed by mapping a drive, or checked out at Wendt.
