Computer Labs
Wendt Library has over 150 computers, including:
- 11 Public-use computers (all floors)
- 35 Infolab computers for use by all UW students, faculty & staff; CAE software is available on these (2nd floor)
- 19 computers for use by all UW students, faculty & staff on weekdays after 5PM and on weekends (Rm.108)
- 29 Laptop computers for 3-day checkout by all UW students, faculty & staff
- 58 CAE computers running Windows XP (1st and 4th floors)
- 6 CAE computers running Sun UNIX or Linux (Rm.101)
- 1 computer for searching SAE Handbook and technical papers (2nd floor)
- 1 computer for searching U.S. patent CD-ROMs (3rd floor)
- Building-wide wireless access
Data Jacks for Personal Laptops
Ethernet jacks require a valid UW NetID. Jacks are located on 1st floor (basement) near Room 140 and on 4th floor under the windows facing Union South.
Printers
Printing from CAE lab computers (Rm. 105, 405) will be deducted from your paper quota. Printing from all other computers costs $0.07/page, and requires a campus print card (available from a machine on 2nd floor).
4th floor CAE computers, outside of Room 405, print in Room 105.
Scanning and Copying
Wendt has photocopiers for public use on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of the library. Copying is $0.10/page and requires a campus print card. Campus print cards can be purchased from a self-service machine on 2nd floor, or can be purchased with a fund account.
The scanner/copier on 1st floor will produce PDF files for free. You can send the files through email, save to MyWebSpace, save to a USB flash drive, or print the PDF at $0.07/page.
Two scanner/copiers on 2nd floor will produce PDF files for free which can be sent through email.
A color scanner in Room 405 is available to people with a CAE login.
Microfiche and Microfilm
Wendt has a viewer/scanner for microfiche and microfilm on the 2nd floor. It will produce PDF files for free; you can send the files through email, save to MyWebSpace, save to a USB flash drive, or print the PDF at $0.07/page. There are additional view-only machines on the 3rd floor.
Appropriate use
People using university computing resources must abide by the UW Appropriate Use Policy. Additionally, people using CAE computers must follow CAE policies.
People who violate these policies may be banned from the library and will be reported to the appropriate Dean's office for discipline.
