Wendt Library

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has designated Wendt Library as a Patent and Trademark Depository Library (PTDL). The library maintains all U.S. utility, design, and plant patents in various formats, and provides reference tools and searching assistance for both the general public and the UW-Madison community. The Patents and Trademarks Reference area is on the 3rd floor.

How We Can Help You

Wendt patent librarians are happy to help you with your own patent searching and to provide general information about the application process. We will also respond to short, specific patent or trademark-related questions in person, by phone, or by email. We are unable to give legal advice. We urge you to contact a registered patent attorney for help with specific legal questions about patentability and your application. The completeness and accuracy of a patent or trademark search rests entirely with the individual conducting the search.

Hours

Patent librarians are available to assist users between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We encourage those new to patent searching to make an appointment for assistance.
