Resources for Distance Education

Electronic? It's easy.

Nearly every web-based book, journal, and research database in the library is available to students, faculty, and staff from anywhere in the world — and we take care of everything automatically. Just start your research on a library web page and enter your 11-digit UW ID and last name when we ask.

To get started, see our guide on how to find articles and books.

Living far from the university?

Students, faculty, and staff affiliated with UW - Madison and living outside of Dane County may order books and articles from the UW Libraries. See the campus distance services page for general information. We will mail books to you, usually via UPS.

For information on due dates and renewing books from the UW Libraries, see our page on due dates and fines. When you return books to us, please use UPS or another service that will give you a tracking number.

Need research help?

Feel free to contact our librarians using any of the options on our contact page. Please let us know you are a distance student and include your UW ID number; this will help us know better what services to offer you.
